What is a dojo?
"Jikishin kore dojo" - The true spirit is the place of the way.
Dojo can be defined as: "The training hall. The place where the way to harmony with the fundamental life force (Ki) is practiced."
Quite literally, dojo means, "place of the Way". The Way being the Path, or the means of learning, wisdom, or enlightenement.

Adirondack Aikido is pleased to offer training for students in our dojo, under the instruction of Chief Instructor (Sensei)
Mike Hornung.

What is Aikido?
Aikido is classical Japanese Martial Art developed in the early part of this century by Morihei Ueshiba, also known as O-Sensei (meaning "Great Teacher").  The Japanese word Aikido consists of three characters which can be translated as "the way of unity with the fundamental force of the universe."

Aikido is a true Budo or "Martial Way." It has evolved in the historic tradition of Japanese warrior arts. It must be understood that studies in earnest Budo is more than a science of tactics and self-defense; it is a discipline for perfecting the spirit
