1973, and continues to train and teach today. His

Karate/Kickboxing under the tutelage of Shihan Jonas

In addition, to improve as an instructor Sensei Rey
Chevere is continually training in other forms of self
defense, constantly exposing himself to new ideas and
techniques in the martial arts arena, such as Jim
Wagners Reality-Based Personal Protection System which

Grappling.
SHINDO-RYU
KARATE KICKBOXING SYSTEM
Shindo-Ryu is an Okinawan Karate system which emphasizes
strong, linear offensive techniques and soft, circular
defensive techniques. This system also focuses on a high
degree of Kata practice for co-ordination, speed and
balance. The fighting disciplines of Thai Boxing and
American Kickboxing have been incorporated into The
Shindo-Ryu System to create an all around effective
style of self defense.
You don't need to be in the
best shape of your life and no prior experience is
necessary. All you need is the right attitude and the
desire to do your best...the rest is up to us. Your
success begins with the willingness to try.
Our philosophy is simple:
Discipline, Results, Achievement, Confidence, Success.
Each of these virtues are not, and cannot be achieved
without the other. Success depends upon the eagerness to
be disciplined enough to see results, to achieve your
goals and to become self-confident as a result of
accomplishing your first goal...TO SUCCEED!
BRAZILIAN
JIU-JITSU / GRAPPLING
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program: A high percentage of street
altercations end up on the ground! The art of Brazilian
Jiu-jitsu strives for simplicity and effectiveness.
Brazilian Jiu-jitsu focuses on close combat altercations
and ground fighting. The techniques taught in Jiu-jitsu
are based on submissions and controlling techniques.
These techniques allow for a student to maintain better
control of attackers while limiting the risk for
personal injury.
We at "AFKKA" feel it is very
important to learn striking techniques in addition to
Jiu-jitsu; so that if you wish to be a true Mixed
Martial Art Practioner; with the combination of
Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and The Shindo-Ryu Karate/Kickboxing
System we feel our students receive a complete well
rounded training experience

Shihan was born in manhattan in
1960 to Jonas Nunez Sr. (born in Chile) and Lita

instructor for the childrens class until Sifu McHony
made a pilgrimage to China. Young Jonas' search for more

After numerous years with Sensei Soto, Jonas received
his 3rd Degree Black Belt. At the same time when not
practicing Goju-Ryu Karate, Jonas started studying
Mudukwan Korean Karate with Sabomnin Frank Santiago (DEA
