Bob Ingargiola's

Isshinryu Karate Academy

Chief Instructor: Bob Ingargiola, 6th Dan

What is ISSHINRYU KARATE?

Isshinryu Karate is an Okinawan martial arts system developed by the late Tatsuo Shimabuku, 10th. Degree Black Belt. The most notable aspect of this system is the vertical punch strengthened by the thumb on top position, and the use of speed and snap to generate power.
Isshinryu means “One Heart Way” and emphasizes the unity and brotherhood of all. We develop a skill, but will use it only as a last resort!
Bob Ingargiola's Isshinryu Karate Academy is one of a Nick Adler’s Centurions Schools located in West Virginia, Holbrook, Smithtown Long Island, Westchester, Bronx, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Although respect and discipline are foremost at the academy, there prevails a strong spirit of camaraderie as well. Students are encouraged to ask questions and actively participate in discussion groups. Promotion evaluations are given at regular intervals and requirements are in the student's manual.

Students are accepted into our training program from the age of 4 and up. There are various programs to fit the needs of each age group from beginner to advanced. At the academy, you will train in the traditional art of Okinawan Isshinryu Karate, Self-defense, and tournament sport karate. Each student is personally eased into a class through individual instruction. Students are taught basic blocking, punching and kicking exercises, Kata, bunkai, Kumite and Self-defense.

Chief Instructor is Bob Ingargiola, a 6th degree black belt in Okinawan Isshinryu Karate, who has trained with Master Nick Adler (Hanchi) 9th degree black belt, since 1973. Until 1993 he had been a martial arts instructor in Master Adler's Centurion School. Now residing in West Virginia he has two schools. He especially enjoys sharing his knowledge with other martial artists and is always in search of more knowledge and continued growth. Sensei Ingargiola's instructor certification is from Nick Adler's Centurions and The Okinawa-Isshinryu Karate Association under Master Angi Uezu, 8th degree black belt, and president of Okinawa-Isshinryu Association.
