Kajukenbo

What is Kajukenbo
Kajukenbo was developed around 1947 in Hawaii by five instructors, each a practitioner of a different martial art. The styles include; Tang Soo Do, Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Kenpo, and Kung Fu. It is this mixture of both soft and hard, standing and grappling martial arts that gives Kajukenbo its ability to defend in virtually any situation. Kajukenbo combines a variety of both traditional and modern martial art techniques. You will learn techniques used for self defense such as punches and kicks, forms and katas which help you flow movements together, grab and hold escapes, punch and kick counters, sweeps, flips and throws, speed striking, multiple attacker defenses, both street and tournament sparring skills, and of course weapons training.

It is recommended that anyone participating in class wear a groin cup for protection as groin strikes are taught frequently. You may also wish to purchase sparring gear early, including hand gear, foot gear, and a mouth-piece. All of which is available from the instructor at a discounted school price.

This Kajukenbo school is a continuous class, there are no beginning or ending sessions. Thus it is easy for new students to join at any time, with or without prior martial arts experience. I also welcome students who are currently training with other instructors. I feel that it is always important to keep an open mind and cross train whenever possible. However, if you are currently enrolled in another school, I ask that you gain your instructor’s permission before attending my classes.
