T'ai Chi Ch'uan

Yin Yang

Chief Instructor: George Masone

T'ai Chi Ch'uan

A slow moving well - paced system of exercise suitable for any age group. The smooth flow of movements relaxes the mind while simulating various energy systems of the body, i.e, the circulatory, immunological and neurological systems. One is shown how to coordinate breath and movement through a continuous choreographed sequence known as ‘The Form’. ‘The Form’, likened to moving meditation, is non strenuous in nature, yet strengthens muscles, fascia, ligaments and bones without the normal potential for injury inherent in so many other exercise regimens. The development of leg strength and balance, coupled with proper skeletal alignment, not only help retard the aging process, but make T’ai Chi Ch’uan a viable therapeutic modality.

Qi Gong (Chi Kung)

Superior Movement routines aimed at maintaining health and strengthening the immunological system. Qigong exercise is designed to detoxify and stimulate healing. It is a wonderful compliment to T’ai Chi Ch’uan yet stands on it’s own as a viable breathing/movement regimen. It is often use in conjunction with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and is steadily becoming recognized as an alternative healing modality.

Certain types of Qigong training can be used while studying martial arts in order to desensitize one’s body to strikes.

Kung Fu (Wu Shu)

The Translation for the term ‘Kung Fu’ is skill and hard work over time. Wu Shu translates as “martial skills” or “war arts”. Martial arts are a path of self-development as well as self-defense. The forms are strenuous, but adaptable for different age groups. The exercises strengthen the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems. Flexibility, focus, stamina and coordination are but a few of the benefits derived from this practice.  Students are also exposed to sparing and weapons training.

Self Defense

To equal an attack with a superior response, violence is not necessarily the best option”

This course of study stresses awareness, technique, confidence and common sense. A prudent and appropriate response to a physical assault is the best defense. Various scenarios and situations are explored using protective equipment. Techniques are adaptable to both strength and size differences. We follow Bruce Lee’s idea of “taking what is useful” from various martial arts. This course is recommended for honest people, concerned with protecting themselves and their loved ones.
