Red Dragon Martial Arts
Academy

Chief Instructors:
Robert Teodorczy, 5th Dan
Instructor
Welcome to RDMAA. I have over 25 yrs Martial Arts
Experience along with over 20 years experience with the Somerset
County Sheriffs department. Working inside the Jail for all
these years I have witnessed and been involved with the
escalation, and physical confrontations of REAL fights. Unlike
some other martial art instructors I have learned what works and
doesn't work in real life situations and have pursued the Arts
and Systems that tend to work in REAL ENCOUNTERS. I like to say
that these arts don't look as pretty and flashy as other arts
but are much more effective in real fights. The bottom line is
that REAL fights aren't pretty. I have trained with and continue
to train with some of the best instructors in the world which
include Dan Inosanto, Bob Orlando, Paul Vunak, Larry Tatum,
George Dillman, Royce Gracie, Bruce Corrigan, Cris Sayoc, and
retired Seal Team 6 Member Dennis Chaulker to name just a few. I
continue my training so that I can share my knowledge to my
dedicated students and prepare them both mentally and physically
for realistic street encounters. Below is a list of
accomplishments in a ongoing never-ending quest for knowledge.
Our
School
The Training methods and techniques originally developed by
Bruce Lee. Jeet Kune Do translated as "Way of the Intercepting
Fist" incorporates 4 ranges of defense: Kicking, Punching,
Trapping Hands, and Joint Locking/Grappling. Bruce Lee
researched and experimented with methods from many systems of
martial arts, using there essence of these arts in there given
ranges. The methods had to be practical and economical, with no
wasted motion. The main arts he drew from are : Wing Chun,
Western Boxing, Fencing, Savate, and Jujitsu. JKD practitioners
train in an environment that helps develop spontaneous and
deceptive combat skills with an emphasis on adaptability. It is
a continuum of perpetual motion, yet there is a flow of
stillness that encapsulates awareness, perceptiveness, and
intuition making them among the most skilled practitioners in
the world.
Filipino
Kali
Kali is a realistic self
defense system from the Philippines. It is known mainly for its
use in weaponry, particularly the stick and edged weapons. In
order for one to defend themselves against a edged weapon, one
must be familiar on the use of one. And because of using weapons
in ones hand it will develop attributes such as hand speed,
agility, timing, and proper body mechanics faster then any other
style. Kali also develops left and right neuromuscular
coordination through its sensitivity and sinawali drills using
various weapons.
Indonesian Silat
Silat is a devastating close range combat system found
throughout Southeast Asia. It is derived from the Silat arts in
Malaysia, Philippines, and Indonesia. Practitioners learn
sweeps, throws, traps, nerve striking and more. The self defense
applications of Silat are numerous, particularly in empty-hand
attack situations, and its value as a "street style" is high
with the emphasis on a short engagement time and strong
finishing techniques.
Kenpo Karate
Kenpo defined, as "Law of the Fist" is the first American
Martial Art introduced in Hawaii in 1941 by James Mitose and
later structured as a system by Ed Parker. Kenpo uses linear as
well as circular moves, using intermittent power when and where
it is needed. Interspersed with major and minor moves that flow
with continuity. It is flexible in thought and action so as to
blend with encounters as they occur. Students are encouraged to
alter moves but not the underlying principles, to fit individual
body structure. Kenpo teaches how to maneuver so that the
opponent unwittingly places himself in a precarious position.
Law
Enforcement Tactics and Certifications
A course designed for law enforcement and future law enforcement
officers will teach passive restraint control, proper body
positioning, takedowns, handcuffing and general combat for close
quarter fighting. Students will also learn and be certified in
PR-24, and ASP (Tactical Retractable Baton)
