About Us
Traditional Martial Arts Academy offers powerful, comprehensive instruction based on a dense, comprehensive curriculum. Our program builds martial artists from the ground up. You will begin with the basic foundation of strengthening and condition as you learn the building block techniques of the system. Your skill-set and physical abilities will improve rapidly.

Traditional Martial Arts Academy concentrates not only on students becoming powerful martial artists, but powerful people. We offer a Path that will give you insight into yourself and your life. Adults and children alike become more capable of dealing with stress and conflict, as well as becoming more focused, balanced and confident, as they untangle the confusing web of life.

Traditional Martial Arts Academy is Austin’s best source for innovative, life-changing martial arts training. What we offer is more than just self-defense and physical fitness – we offer an experience. Our classes are high energy, challenging and fun, set in a positive, supportive environment. Our curriculum is designed with a progressive structure based on how we believe the mind and body best learn martial arts. Our instruction provides powerful martial arts for our students with an understanding that the experience can transform lives. This transformation is found through self-awareness and balance.

The Warrior Path of Transformation
Our curriculum is product of a collaboration between James Espy and Sean Peachey. With a combined experience of over thirty years of training, study and teaching in martial arts, they have created a program designed to train even the beginner to become a powerful martial artist. Though they both have love and respect for all of their past teachers and systems of study, they felt that there was a need to create something that reflected their understanding of martial arts and how it is learned. We teach a system rooted in traditional Korean martial arts, but informed by our instructors’ experience in Filipino, Japanese, Chinese and Brazilian styles, using an approach to training that provides access to the tradition of classical martial arts schools, with the application and effectiveness of modern self defense. We share with our students an appreciation for the beauty of the martial arts, but offer clarity in underlying principles and help to distinguish between art and application.
